Deciding On A Blog Name

Good morning! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had big plans this weekend... go visit my sister's wedding venue, make a trip to the pumpkin patch, take Kimber to the beach... it was going to be a great one.

THEN, we woke up Saturday morning to a limping dog.

Kimber has had a bump on her back leg for the past few weeks. We took her to the vet, and they informed us that it was just a benign growth that would eventually go away on its own. We were so glad it wasn't cancerous! Well, when we woke up Saturday morning, Kimber was limping, shaking, and was a little lethargic. Landon took her back to the vet, and we found out that somehow it got infected! (gross, I know) So now the poor little thing is on antibiotics and she is wearing the cone of shame.

We spent the rest of the weekend making sure she was okay. We still had fun celebrating my uncle's birthday on Saturday, and we watched the Raider/Charger game on Sunday with Landon's family.

So, for today, I thought I would share a quick story of how I came up with my blog name.

Story time! Sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and relax. This is a good one.

I kind of thought picking a name for my blog would be a piece of cake. I already had a name in mind. I had the perfect idea. Ready for it?

The Orange Tulip.

That's it. Isn't it adorable and super original? I thought so too, so I told my sister right away. I was ready for her to text me back and say something like "Wow, Chelsea, you are really creative! What a cute name! I love it!"

The reaction I got was a little different. I got the three little dots on my phone that you see when someone is texting... then the dots disappeared. She stopped writing. No response. For like five minutes. Finally, she responded with "Let me think about it." Then, about ten minutes later, she sent me a second text that read "I think I like it. Your theme could be oranges. You can start gardening and write about that!"

Oranges and gardening. That isn't exactly the idea I had for my blog.

So back to the drawing board I went. I wrote out all of the things I love and the things that make me happy. Landon. Lincoln. Family. Simplicity. Exercising. Sweatshirts. Cookies. Kimber. Carmel Macchiatos. Pumpkins.

Then, I had a brilliant thought. I will ask my husband. What a great idea! No one knows me better than Landon! And what does he come up with? "50 shades of my day" and "dark horse". Quickly, I decided to quit asking him for suggestions and made a mental note to name the rest of our future children myself.

So here I am. A little discouraged… A little bummed… Buying a snack at the store, when the man behind the register says "See you later, Chelsea Lately!" I giggled and thought how weird that he just called me that. Instantly, a light bulb went on and the name popped in my head. Simply Chelsea.

Simply Chelsea... I liked it! Why was I trying to come up with something completely random that didn't even describe who I was. Why not keep it simple, literally. (see what I did there)

I'm still not sure how I got Simply Chelsea from Chelsea Lately, but I'll take it. And I think it suits me a little more than the orange tulip.

Simply Chelsea
